Family Network

Welcome to the Family Network Board (FNB) Page! Here you will find information on the roles and responsibilities of the FNB, as well as a calendar of events.

The mission of the Antioch Charter Academies is to facilitate academic and personal growth of TK8th grade students of all socioeconomic levels and ethnic backgrounds. ACA enables 21st century students to become literate, selfmotivated, innovative, lifelong learners, and compassionate, collaborative active citizens. We nurture and support a partnership of students, teachers, families and the community; embrace individual strengths; and build upon research informed educational best practices including Montessori, multiple intelligences, braincompatible teaching, and multiage groupings with small class sizes.

The Family Network Board’s missions is to offer support to ACAII Families and the school community. We strive to encourage communication and teamwork among teachers, parents, administrators, and sister campuses. The FNB also promotes activities that will enrich the learning experience of ACAII students. The FNB raises funds for these activities and to supplement the school budget.

We are proud of the diversity of students and families in the Cheetah family, and welcome anyone from any background, to take part in the Family Network Board. If you work full-time in an office or full-time raising a family, your experience and commitment is needed!

FNB Teams

Fundraising:

FNB Fundraising Committee strives to organize fundraisers that are easy, fun, and provide something that the community wants. In turn, funds are used to enhance our student’s ACAII experience and academic support and support the work of the faculty.

The Family Network Board (FNB) holds annual fundraising events to raise funds for ACAII student Big Field Trips (BFT) and the General School Fund (GSF).

In recent years, FNB funds have contributed to…

Big Field Trips (BFT:)

Big Field Trips are offsite, often overnight or week long trips for students and families to participate in. Funds are raised through events hosted by ACAII that have a cost of $100 or more or, an overnight trip. Recently we have travelled to Washington, DC (hosted every three years) and to Alliance Redwoods for our Outdoor Education module.

  • Families use the fundraising money they raise to set aside and use to cover or reduce/pay down costs for BFT’S for their ACAII student.
  • Fundraised monies are held in individual family (Name) accounts
  • Families with more than one student enrolled, unused funds in their family accounts rollover annually until the last member of the family graduates from ACAII.
  • Graduated ACAII students (those who are attending high school) can attend ACAII’s BFTs and use funds in their family account to pay down costs. Families simply notify the FNB Treasurer or Fundraising team during the child’s last year attending ACAII of your intent (8th Grade)
  • Balances not used prior to graduation can be “donated” to another ACAII family/ies’ account of your choice
  • Unused or non-donated balances are transferred into the school’s General Fund after graduation. Balances cannot be withdrawn nor cashed out back to families at any point in time.
  • We strongly suggest primary families participate in BFT Fundraising to get an early start on their individual fund.

Family Network General School Fund (GSF):

All fundraising events not specified as BFT fundraisers are for ACAII Family Network General School Fund. These funds impact students directly throughout the year. Everyone should/is encouraged to participate.

  • General School Funds are used for ACAII’s yearly budget
  • FNB Fundraising’s role helps close the gap in the line items & ‘extras’ in our school budget
  • GSF budget line items include

    • Classroom money allocation for each teacher and grade level
    • Capital Improvements
    • Enrichment Supplies
      • School garden and animal care
      • Project Lead the Way
      • Field Trips
      • Field Trip & College Scholarships
    • Elective Material Fees
    • Personal Safety & Physical Education
    • Art & Pottery
    • Music – School Orchestra
    • iLs –  Integrated Listening Systems, Primary Classes and “Booster” Grade Levels
