ACA Middle School News 5/11/2026

The Whole School Field Trip tomorrow, May 12, 2026 is set to go! We are confirmed to have 275 ACA people attending!

  • If your student is going: It is supposed to be a hot sunny day, so put on sunblock and send a hat and/or some shades. Here are some items that are not allowed in the park: cannot bring in outside food or drinks (except for one sealed water bottle), hard-sided coolers, weapons, or non-clear bags larger than 4.5″x6.5″, so NO BACKPACKS or large purses. Only clear plastic/vinyl bags not exceeding 12”x6”x12” or one-gallon freezer bags are allowed. Lunch is included in the ticket price.  The venue is cashless.

  • If your student is not going: There will be a couple of teachers & aides on campus to supervise the students.  If your student is staying home, make sure to let the office know, and ask for an Independent Study.

  • If you signed up to drive: Make sure you are here by 8:30am, with your car already gassed up!  If you indicated you can take additional students…THANK YOU…please expect to have your seats full! Reminder: Parking is $10 and the stadium is a cashless facility

 
*Food Business – Guest Speaker:  Thank you to the Ramos family for asking their friend to come in and share about his BBQ business!  We will have this learning experience on Monday, May 11th here on campus.
 
*Family Harvest Farm: We have 3 more trips planned to Family Harvest Farm.  Two of the trips will be small groups of students, and the last trip will be the whole class.  Please look at the schedule below, and the day your student is attending, please consider driving – we need 1-2 parent drivers for each small group; 5-6 parent drivers for the whole class. For the small group trips, drivers need to be here by 9:40am, and we will return to campus by 12pm. Drivers need to have a copy of their 100,000/300,000 liability car insurance on file in the office.  If you can drive, please let us know how many students you can take. Students not attending the farm will be working on assignments with the other MS teachers who stayed back.
 
Schedule: Farm Small Group Visits 

*State Testing continues.  Make sure you do not schedule any appointments/trips/etc during these dates.  It is very DIFFICULT on your student if they miss a test(s) and have to make them up. Testing takes place in the mornings.

Week 4:  Food, Inc

     
This Week’s Assignments/Homework: not inclusive – assignments may be added.  Class assignments not finished during class become homework.
  • Vocabulary – Membean: 15 minutes 3 times a week; due Friday
  • Literature Book: Omnivore’s Dilemma; pacing guide for reading, RJW + Reflection due on Fridays, quiz on Fridays
  • CNN10 – various due dates
  • CommonLit: Water Scarcity: A Global Issue; due Friday
  • Writing 3-4: Read over the assignment very carefully. Ask questions in class. W#3 was due in class last Friday (5/08). W#4 is due in class this Thursday.
  • Math: CPM, Khan, POD, Math Review, pacing guide with due dates, assessments on Fridays
  • Science “Nutrition“: participation, labs & assignments; due on Science day
  • Food, Inc Project:  projects are due Friday
