Itchy eyes? Stuffed nose? Head in a fog?
Many of us are feeling like this around this time of year. As we move through the school year and the weather warms up, there is more outdoor play and we have definitely seen an uptick in our students suffering from symptoms like itchy eyes and throat/nose issues. We know that seasonal and environmental allergies can affect many of our students. From pollen to dust to food sensitivities, allergies can sometimes make it difficult for children to feel their best. Our goal is to support students so they can remain in school, continue learning, and stay safe. Missing school due to allergies can impact learning, routines, and social connections. With the right planning and support, many allergy symptoms can be managed effectively so students can stay in class and feel comfortable. If your child requires medication during the school day, please contact the office to complete the necessary forms and arrange safe storage.
Here are some tips that can help eliminate/ease some of the symptoms:
Follow your child’s prescribed allergy treatment plan at home
If your child takes daily allergy medication, try to administer it before school (as directed by your healthcare provider)
Send your student to school with a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated
Encourage your child to speak up if they are not feeling well
We encourage students to take an active role in managing their allergies. Here are some tips for them while they are at school:
Pay attention to your body: Notice signs like sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose, or trouble breathing. Tell a teacher or adult early before it gets worse.
A cool, damp towel on the eyes or face can reduce itchiness and swelling.
Practice good hygiene- wash hands regularly and avoid touching your face
Remind your students that their medication should always be stored in the office and cannot be shared with others.
Only eat food provided by home or approved school.

This year, our goal is to raise $6,000 to support important programs:
PE, Music, Personal Safety, Art & Field Trips. Student goal $100, ask 10 people to pledge $10!
If 60 families succeed, we make our goal of $6000! Let’s go ACA!!!
Pizza Lunch Fundraiser! You must turn in the slip with the money attached to the office by Tuesday, April 7th. The slip is attached to this email, or you can use the paper copy coming home with your student. On Wednesday, April 8th, the food that you have pre-paid for from Costco will be delivered to your student during lunchtime. Thank you for your continued support!

CAASPP: Each year, students in grades three through eight (and high school) participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Please make sure to not take your child out of school on testing days – testing usually takes place in the mornings.

Family Network Meetings are the second Friday of each month at 3pm. The board welcomes and encourages all ACA families to attend the meetings. Check with the calendar. below to find out the next meeting. See attached document for this school’s year schedule
Charter Council: The Charter Council is our governing board. The board meets usually on the second Thursday of the month @ 4PM. Please check the calendar for the next meeting date/time, or call the office at 925-755-7311 to confirm. These meetings are open to the public – all are welcomed!

School Lunch Order Form – https://forms.gle/
You MUST order meals in advance in order to receive them or else we may not have a meal available for your student. Breakfast and Supper will be the same for all students, while lunch has a menu that you can choose one entree from. No delivery services are allowed on campus.
Absences, Tardies, Leaving Early: If your student will be absent, or tardy, please call the office at 925-755-7311, or email your student’s classroom, before 8:00am. Please make sure to check into the office if your student arrives late. If your student needs to depart early, the person picking up the child must call the office at (925) 755-7311 so the office can retrieve the student prior to walking into the office to sign out their student. Please remember to request an “Independent Study” or “IS” every time you email/call to report an absence. This helps the school, which helps your student!
Clothes Donation Bin: is a great way to have our unclaimed lost and found items find a new home, and it is actually a form of fund raising for the school. When people donate clothes, the owners of the bin, Tree Machine, will give money to the school. The bin is for clothes only. Please make sure to bag the clothes before you put them in the bin. Thank You.

Muchos de nosotros nos sentimos así en esta época del año. A medida que avanza el año escolar y el clima se vuelve más cálido, aumenta el tiempo de juego al aire libre; en consecuencia, hemos observado un claro aumento en el número de estudiantes que presentan síntomas como picazón en los ojos y problemas en la garganta o la nariz. Sabemos que las alergias estacionales y ambientales pueden afectar a muchos de nuestros estudiantes. Desde el polen y el polvo hasta las sensibilidades alimentarias, las alergias a veces pueden dificultar que los niños se sientan en su mejor estado. Nuestro objetivo es apoyar a los estudiantes para que puedan permanecer en la escuela, continuar aprendiendo y mantenerse seguros. ¡Almuerzo de pizza para recaudar fondos! Deben entregar el formulario, junto con el dinero adjunto, en la oficina a más tardar el martes 7 de abril.
