We are fortunate enough to be at a school that really values hands-on experiences. This week in the TK- 3rd grade classrooms we will be going to a pumpkin patch. At the Pumpkin patch we will get to do all the usual fun stuff, corn maze, hayride, choose our pumpkins etc. But we will spend the week leading up to the trip learning all about Pumpkins.
In the Montessori classroom students as young as TK will get to learn about the pumpkin life cycle, how we use them for cooking, cultural significance etc. In the Primary room we will also have a day to make pumpkin art and use pumpkin for cooking. This will culminate with our trip to Joan’s farm in Livermore on Tuesday October 21st
I wanted to also take this time to thank parents at each level for driving their students and others on field trips. This not only keeps the price of our trips down, but helps us build community among parents and show your students that school is important, you are invested in their education and that Parents, Teachers and Students are all a part of the same team.
We look forward to seeing TK-3rd grade parents on our trip!

Fall Fair: On Thursday, Oct 30 from 5:30-7pm, the Fundraising Elective is putting on a Fall Fair for the whole school! Come enjoy an old fashioned family friendly evening with music, games, food, and even a Haunted House. Tickets for food & activities will be sold at the event! All profits will go toward the Middle School class.
Electives: We want to take this opportunity to give a “Shout Out” to our wonderful 1st trimester elective parent volunteer: Ms Sanders, and to all the teachers & aides who also stepped up to help. One of the reasons our school is successful is because of people like you who are willing to invest in our students!
Believe it or not, it is time to start planning for our 2nd trimester. 2nd trimester afternoon electives for our 4-8th grade students runs December 1-March 6th from 2:05-3pm on Mon, Tues, Thurs, & Fridays (Fridays are for Middle School students only).
We are looking for adults who are willing to teach/supervise an assortment of activities. The elective program at our school is vitally important part of our curriculum. These classes offer students the opportunities to explore new areas of interest, opening their minds to new possibilities for themselves. Our hope is to offer at least 9 different options for students to choose from on each day. This is only possible if our wonderful ACA community volunteers to help!!
PERSONAL SAFETY UPDATE: Students will begin belt testing in the next few weeks. Attached is the Personal Safety Creed for students to practice. Different groups will have different requirements/expectations for their individual belt test. If your student is not clear about what they need to be practicing for their belt test, please contact the office.
October 31st Holiday Information (school is still required, but all holiday activities that take place after lessons are optional)
Costume Parade & Trick or Treating (optional). Around 11am, we will have our annual School Families “Trick or Treating”, and costume parade. Parents are welcome to come watch.
Students who do not want to participate will have a supervised room set-aside for them where they can play board games during the activities, or they can be signed out by a parent/guardian around 11am. This is a minimum day – pick up time is at 12pm.
This day is a normal learning day for all students, except students will be able to wear their costumes to school, if they choose. No masks, weapons, or gore are allowed. Students must still be able to participate in learning, so no costumes which would hinder school work (school dress codes still apply).
During the trick or treating & parade, parents are requested to OBSERVE the activities, and NOT take students away from their School Family groups. The middle school students are in charge of their small groups, and it stresses them out when parents pull their students away. PLEASE take individual/group pictures after the parade…thank you in advance!

*Pizza Lunch Fundraiser! You must turn in the slip with the money attached to the office by Monday, Nov 3rd. The slip is attached to this email, or you can use the paper copy coming home with your student. On Wednesday, Nov 5th, the food that you have pre-paid for from Costco will be delivered to your student during lunchtime.

School Lunch Order Form – https://forms.gle/
You MUST order meals in advance in order to receive them or else we may not have a meal available for your student. Breakfast and Supper will be the same for all students, while lunch has a menu that you can choose one entree from. No delivery services are allowed on campus.
Absences, Tardies, Leaving Early: If your student will be absent, or tardy, please call the office at 925-755-7311, or email your student’s classroom, before 8:00am. Please make sure to check into the office if your student arrives late. If your student needs to depart early, the person picking up the child must call the office at (925) 755-7311 so the office can retrieve the student prior to walking into the office to sign out their student. Please remember to request an “Independent Study” or “IS” every time you email/call to report an absence. This helps the school, which helps your student!
Clothes Donation Bin: is a great way to have our unclaimed lost and found items find a new home, and it is actually a form of fund raising for the school. When people donate clothes, the owners of the bin, Tree Machine, will give money to the school. The bin is for clothes only. Please make sure to bag the clothes before you put them in the bin. Thank You.

Tenemos la suerte de estar en una escuela que realmente valora las experiencias prácticas. Esta semana, en las aulas de TK a 3.er grado, iremos a un huerto de calabazas. Allí podremos disfrutar de todas las actividades divertidas habituales: laberinto de maíz, paseo en carreta de heno, elegir nuestras calabazas, etc. Pero pasaremos la semana previa a la excursión aprendiendo todo sobre las calabazas.
En el aula Montessori, los alumnos desde TK aprenderán sobre el ciclo de vida de las calabazas, cómo las usamos para cocinar, su significado cultural, etc. En el aula de Primaria, también tendremos un día para crear arte con calabazas y usarlas para cocinar. Esto culminará con nuestra excursión a la granja de Joan en Livermore el martes 21 de octubre.
También quería aprovechar este momento para agradecer a los padres de cada nivel por acompañar a sus alumnos y a otros alumnos en las excursiones. Esto no solo reduce el precio de nuestros viajes, sino que también nos ayuda a construir una comunidad entre los padres y a mostrarles a sus estudiantes que la escuela es importante, que están comprometidos con su educación y que padres, maestros y estudiantes son parte del mismo equipo.
¡Esperamos ver a los padres de niños de TK a 3.er grado en nuestro viaje!

Feria de Otoño: El jueves 30 de octubre, de 5:30 a 7 p. m., la Electiva de Recaudación de Fondos organizará una Feria de Otoño para toda la escuela. Ven a disfrutar de una velada familiar al estilo tradicional con música, juegos, comida e incluso una casa embrujada. ¡Las entradas para la comida y las actividades se venderán en el evento! Todas las ganancias se destinarán a la clase de secundaria.
Optativas: Queremos aprovechar esta oportunidad para reconocer a nuestra maravillosa madre voluntaria de las clases optativas del primer trimestre, la Sra. Sanders, y a todos los maestros y auxiliares que también se ofrecieron a ayudar. ¡Una de las razones del éxito de nuestra escuela es gracias a personas como ustedes que están dispuestas a invertir en nuestros estudiantes!
Lo creas o no, es hora de empezar a planificar nuestro segundo trimestre. Las clases optativas vespertinas del segundo trimestre para nuestros estudiantes de 4.º a 8.º grado se impartirán del 1 de diciembre al 6 de marzo de 14:05 a 15:00 h los lunes, martes, jueves y viernes (los viernes son solo para estudiantes de secundaria).
Buscamos adultos dispuestos a enseñar/supervisar diversas actividades. El programa de asignaturas optativas de nuestra escuela es una parte fundamental de nuestro currículo. Estas clases ofrecen a los estudiantes la oportunidad de explorar nuevas áreas de interés, abriendo sus mentes a nuevas posibilidades. Esperamos ofrecer al menos 9 opciones diferentes para que los estudiantes elijan cada día. ¡Esto solo es posible si nuestra maravillosa comunidad de ACA se ofrece como voluntaria!
ACTUALIZACIÓN SOBRE SEGURIDAD PERSONAL: Los estudiantes comenzarán la prueba de cinturón en las próximas semanas. Se adjunta el Credo de Seguridad Personal para que los estudiantes practiquen. Cada grupo tendrá diferentes requisitos/expectativas para su prueba de cinturón individual. Si su estudiante no tiene claro qué debe practicar para su prueba de cinturón, por favor, contacte con la oficina.
