Dear ACA Families,
This week we will have our first round of minimum days for Parent Teacher Conferences. If you didn’t get a sign up time, don’t worry, we have more minimum days coming up in the next few months.
Each month, our school calendar has minimum days built in to allow for parents and teachers to meet.
The faculty at ACA believe that communication between school and home is a vital part of each student’s education. At ACA we value this time so very much and that is why we build it into our calendar all year long.
Those of you who are going to attend conferences this week, we thank you. We know your time is valuable, and we greatly appreciate you taking that time to meet with us.
We know that minimum days can make picking up challenging for some families, and we want to thank you for being flexible and making the adjustment each month.

HIGHLIGHTS 
Keeping Your Children Safe:
Hello,
With the increasing presence of online technology in our lives, parents, educators, and other members of our communities need to be more vigilant about keeping children safe from those who may cause them harm.
The Contra Costa District Attorney has created a program, The Vigilant Parent Initiative (VPI), a two-hour, hands-on instructional program specifically designed for parents with children in middle school and adult professionals working with middle schoolers. In a hands-on classroom setting, the uses and potential dangers of social media apps are explored. The information from this program will help parents and educators take more active roles in keeping children safe. VPI is led by public safety experts from the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office and the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The Vigilant Parents Initiative can help you create a safe and positive online experience for your child.

Independent Studies: Please make sure if your child misses school they are completing and returning an independent study. This is very important because it ensures that the school can still receive funding for your child.

REMINDERS
School Lunch Order Form – https://forms.gle/
You MUST order meals in advance in order to receive them or else we may not have a meal available for your student. Breakfast and Supper will be the same for all students, while lunch has a menu that you can choose one entree from. No delivery services are allowed on campus.
Absences, Tardies, Leaving Early: If your student will be absent, or tardy, please call the office at 925-755-7311, or email your student’s classroom, before 8:00am. Please make sure to check into the office if your student arrives late. If your student needs to depart early, the person picking up the child must call the office at (925) 755-7311 so the office can retrieve the student prior to walking into the office to sign out their student. Please remember to request an “Independent Study” or “IS” every time you email/call to report an absence. This helps the school, which helps your student!
Clothes Donation Bin: is a great way to have our unclaimed lost and found items find a new home, and it is actually a form of fund raising for the school. When people donate clothes, the owners of the bin, Tree Machine, will give money to the school. The bin is for clothes only. Please make sure to bag the clothes before you put them in the bin. Thank You.

Esta semana tendremos la primera ronda de días de cierre para las Conferencias de Padres y Maestros. Si no se inscribieron, no se preocupen, tendremos más días de cierre en los próximos meses.
Cada mes, nuestro calendario escolar incluye días de cierre para que padres y maestros puedan reunirse.
El profesorado de ACA cree que la comunicación entre la escuela y el hogar es vital para la educación de cada estudiante. En ACA valoramos mucho este tiempo y, por eso, lo incluimos en nuestro calendario durante todo el año.
A quienes asistirán a las conferencias esta semana, les agradecemos. Sabemos que su tiempo es valioso y les agradecemos enormemente que se lo hayan tomado para reunirse con nosotros.
Sabemos que los días reducidos pueden dificultar la recogida de niños para algunas familias, y queremos agradecerles su flexibilidad y su adaptación cada mes.

Con la creciente presencia de la tecnología en línea en nuestras vidas, padres, educadores y otros miembros de nuestras comunidades deben estar más atentos para proteger a los niños de quienes puedan hacerles daño.
La Fiscalía del Distrito de Contra Costa ha creado la Iniciativa de Padres Vigilantes (VPI), un programa instructivo práctico de dos horas diseñado específicamente para padres con hijos en secundaria y profesionales adultos que trabajan con estudiantes de secundaria. En un entorno de aula práctica, se exploran los usos y los posibles peligros de las aplicaciones de redes sociales. La información de este programa ayudará a padres y educadores a asumir un papel más activo en la protección de los niños. La VPI está dirigida por expertos en seguridad pública de la Fiscalía del Distrito de Contra Costa y el Grupo de Trabajo de Delitos contra Niños en Internet de Silicon Valley.

Formulario de pedido de almuerzo escolar: https://forms.gle/
Debes pedir las comidas con anticipación para recibirlas; de lo contrario, es posible que no tengamos una comida disponible para tu estudiante. El desayuno y la cena serán iguales para todos los estudiantes, mientras que el almuerzo tiene un menú del que puedes elegir un plato principal. No se permiten servicios de entrega a domicilio en el campus.
Ausencias, Tardanzas, Salidas Tempranas: Si su estudiante va a faltar o llegar tarde, por favor llame a la oficina al 925-755-7311 o envíe un correo electrónico a la clase de su estudiante antes de las 8:00 a. m. Contenedor de Donación de Ropa: es una excelente manera de encontrar un nuevo hogar para nuestros artículos perdidos y encontrados, y es, de hecho, una forma de recaudar fondos para la escuela. Cuando la gente dona ropa, los dueños del contenedor, Tree Machine, donarán dinero a la escuela. El contenedor es solo para ropa.
