Hello! Welcome back! We hope that everyone had a restful break and was able to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Before break students began work on their Young Author’s stories. At each level students are able to create a story or make a collection of their work to present on Young Author’s night. In Primary we discuss the parts of a story and what each story needs to be interesting. The students then dictate a story to the Teacher. We then print it out and they trace the words on each page and create an illustration for each page. This process gets more involved and more complex at each level. It’s such a great way to see how much your student has learned and grown each year by looking at their Young Author’s stories.
This all culminates with Young Author’s night on May 7th. Students at the Primary and Elementary levels are put into small groups where they can read their story aloud to their family and friends. At the Intermediate and Middle school levels books/portfolios are put out on display for students to share with their families. This is also a great night for families to check out the book fair in the Multi use room.
This is an event that’s very special to our school. Make sure to ask your student what they are writing about and we hope to see you at Young Author’s night.

STEAM Camp: Please join us this summer for our STEAM Camp! We will be hosting 6 free sessions this year, with the last session hosted at ACAII. This is a free summer camp, focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) with project based learning. Camp is for our currently enrolled students. Our goal is to get students inspired to learn through fun, hands-on activities!
The Camp’s main programming will take place from 8a-12p and from 12 – 4pm, the camp will be focused on recreation participation, not competition, with an emphasis on learning, fun, teamwork, being involved, and having new experiences. Half Days are from 8am-12pm and Full Days are from 8am-4pm.
Session 1 Sports Around the World = 6/16 – 6/20 (No Camp on 6/19 holiday)
Session 2 Disney week = 6/24 – 6/28
Session 3 US State Parks week = 7/7 – 7/11
Session 4 Silver Screen Week = 7/14 – 7/18

Session 6 offered at ACAII (1201 W. 10th St.) = 7/28 – 8/1
Spaces are limited, so please indicate the week(s) you are interested in, and either half or full day options. We will send out a confirmation to you in May, letting you know if you got in! Be sure to complete the registration paperwork that will be emailed to you prior to your session.

CAASPP: Our school plan is to test 3rd -8th grade students beginning in April through June. Students will test in grade level groups, and/or individually depending on their individual educational plans. It will be extremely important for students to arrive on time and well rested during these testing months.

Charter Council: The Charter Council is our governing board. The board meets usually on the second Thursday of the month @ 4PM. Please check the calendar for the next meeting date/time, or call the office at 925-755-7311 to confirm. These meetings are open to the public – all are welcomed!
FAMILY NETWORK (FN) HAPPENINGS 
The ACA Family Network is made up of ACA adults who volunteer for fundraisers and social events for the enrichment of our children. The money we raise goes back to our school for study trips, family activities, assemblies, and classroom supplies. If you have a child/grandchild/niece/nephew/
Family Network Meetings are the second Friday of each month at 3pm. The board welcomes and encourages all ACA families to attend the meetings. Check with the calendar. below to find out the next meeting.

We need volunteers to help out with popcorn sales each Friday 2:30pm – 3:30pm

REMINDERS 
School Lunch Order Form – https://forms.gle/
You MUST order meals in advance in order to receive them or else we may not have a meal available for your student. Breakfast and Supper will be the same for all students, while lunch has a menu that you can choose one entree from. Reminder- AUSD has decided to remove the Middle School lunch menu from our options. They will now only offer three items daily to all students: Entree of the Day, Burritos, and SunButter and Jelly Sandwiches.
Absences, Tardies, Leaving Early: If your student will be absent, or tardy, please call the office at 925-755-7311, or email your student’s classroom, before 8:00am. Please make sure to check into the office if your student arrives late. If your student needs to depart early, the person picking up the child must call the office at (925) 755-7311 so the office can retrieve the student prior to walking into the office to sign out their student. Please remember to request an “Independent Study” or “IS” every time you email/call to report an absence. This helps the school, which helps your student!
REMIND: This APP is another way for the school to quickly inform you on what is happening on campus. Never miss another minimum day schedule, or a whole school event (example from last year: a power outage that required early dismissal!). You can receive messages through email or through texting (recommended) – you decide! Ask your student’s teacher for their classcode!
Clothes Donation Bin: is a great way to have our unclaimed lost and found items find a new home, and it is actually a form of fund raising for the school. When people donate clothes, the owners of the bin, Tree Machine, will give money to the school. The bin is for clothes only. Please make sure to bag the clothes before you put them in the bin. Thank You.

¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos de nuevo! Esperamos que hayan tenido un descanso reparador y hayan disfrutado del buen tiempo.
Antes del descanso, los alumnos comenzaron a trabajar en sus cuentos de Jóvenes Autores. En cada nivel, pueden crear un cuento o una colección de sus trabajos para presentarlos en la Noche de Jóvenes Autores. En Primaria, hablamos sobre las partes de un cuento y cómo cada uno debe ser interesante. Luego, los alumnos le dictan un cuento al profesor. Después, lo imprimimos y ellos trazan las palabras en cada página y crean una ilustración para cada una. Este proceso se vuelve más complejo en cada nivel. Es una excelente manera de ver cuánto ha aprendido y crecido su alumno cada año al observar sus cuentos de Jóvenes Autores.
Todo esto culmina con la Noche de Jóvenes Autores el 7 de mayo. Los alumnos de Primaria y Elemental se dividen en grupos pequeños donde pueden leer su cuento en voz alta a sus familiares y amigos. En los niveles de Secundaria y Media, se exhiben libros y portafolios para que los alumnos los compartan con sus familias. Esta noche también es ideal para que las familias visiten la feria del libro en el salón multiusos.
Este es un evento muy especial para nuestra escuela. Asegúrese de preguntarle a su hijo/a sobre qué está escribiendo y esperamos verlo/a en la Noche de Jóvenes Autores.

Campamento STEAM: ¡Únete a nuestro Campamento STEAM este verano! Ofreceremos 6 sesiones gratuitas este año, la última sesión en ACAII. Este es un campamento de verano gratuito, enfocado en STEAM (Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería, Arte y Matemáticas) con aprendizaje basado en proyectos. El campamento es para nuestros estudiantes actualmente matriculados. Nuestro objetivo es inspirarlos a aprender mediante actividades divertidas y prácticas.
El programa principal del campamento se llevará a cabo de 8:00 a. m. a 12:00 p. m. y de 12:00 p. m. a 4:00 p. m. El campamento se centrará en la participación recreativa, no en la competencia, con énfasis en el aprendizaje, la diversión, el trabajo en equipo, la participación y las nuevas experiencias. Los medios días son de 8:00 a. m. a 12:00 p. m. y los días completos, de 8:00 a. m. a 4:00 p. m. Sesión 1: Deportes alrededor del mundo = 16/6 – 20/6 (No hay campamento el 19/6)
Sesión 2: Semana de Disney = 24/6 – 28/6
Sesión 3: Semana de Parques Estatales de EE. UU. = 7/7 – 11/7

Evaluación CAASPP: Nuestro plan escolar es evaluar a los estudiantes de 3.º a 8.º grado entre abril y junio. Los estudiantes se evaluarán en grupos de su grado o individualmente, según sus planes educativos. Es fundamental que los estudiantes lleguen puntuales y bien descansados durante estos meses de exámenes.
