Announcements (Important – please read):
1. EE small group trips to Family Harvest Farm: Our next trip to the farm is this Thursday, March 27.  If your student is going that day, please consider driving. The trip runs from 9:40~12pm (We currently have no drivers).  Drivers need to have a copy of their 100,000/300,000 liability car insurance on file in the office to drive.  Students not attending the farm will do EE assignments at school.  A BIG thank you to all the parents/grandparents who have helped with transportation!
2SPA (Social Political Action) Impact Groups
  • Mental Health Focus: students in this group are collecting new & gently used backpacks & toiletries for the teen mental health patients. Students are also running a “Coin War” to raise funds.  Please turn all donations in at the office.  The Coin Wars ends on March 31st.
Week 5 – Entrepreneur & Shark Tank 
This unit is a continuation of Human Centered Design (HCD).  Students will now take their design from the HCD unit, continue to refine it – or create a new design – and then go through the process of creating a business.  At the end of the unit, students will present their business to the class, and then to a Shark Tank (community members). 
This Week’s Assignments/Homework: not an exhaustive listmore assignments may be added by teachers through-out the week. Class assignments not finished during class become homework.
  • Membean:  Complete 3 training sessions of 15 minutes each; due Friday
  • Business Journal: Daily entries; due Fridays
  • Writing #3-4:  Business Plan; due this week
  • Mentor Meeting: for your group and your business.  Meet with your mentor for 30-60 minutes. Find out about them and share with them your plans for this unit. Record in your business journal notes; due Friday
  • Internship Packet; due Thursday
  • Literature Book “Lunch Money” & Assignments:  assigned chapters read & Golden Lines due by Friday, assessments (Persuasive Writing) on Friday
  • Writer’s Workshop: assignments in class; due on Workshop day
  • Young Author’s/Portfolio: Complete 10 pieces (7th graders) or 16 pieces (8th graders) of writing and 10/16 reflections (see attached document for details) Due May 7
  • Math: CPM, Khan, POD, Desmos, Math Review, Project, etc- pacing guide with due dates, assessments on Fridays
  • Science “Organ Systems”: participation & assignments; assignments due on Science day
  • Shark Tank  – April 7-11th
