Dear ACA Families,
At ACA we try our best to offer the students a wide variety of learning opportunities that let the students follow their passions. One way that we do this is with our elective program. Four days a week Intermediate and Middle School students get the opportunity to experience new topics and pursue interests. Students can try a broad range of classes from Soccer and World sports, to Re-use Art and Baking. Not only do the students gain many new experiences in the topic of their choice, but the electives give an opportunity for the families of ACA to become more connected by teaching the elective.
Every trimester we want to give the students a chance to choose any topic that they choose, but unfortunately, that is very difficult to do. Each teacher can teach one elective every day, but we need more community volunteers to bring their expertise to our school. We have an amazing network of families that have already brought us fantastic elective teachers that the students love. Thank you to everyone who has ever volunteered to teach an elective. It is because of our parent volunteers that the students are able to have such a great opportunity.
Recently, I talked to Middle School students about what classes they would like to take next trimester. These are the topics that they said; Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Guitar/ Ukulele, Choir, Arts and Crafts, Woodworking, Science Labs, any type of cooking (very popular), Chess, Movie Making, Photography, or a Second Language. If you have knowledge about any of these topics and have time to teach them one day a week for one hour from 2:00 – 3:00, it would help us out tremendously. Additionally, if you have any other skills you could teach, that would also be very helpful. Thank you so much to everyone in advance that will volunteer their time to help our students.
Sincerely,
Mr. Stahler
