Parent Messages

Picture Day – Picture day is this Wednesday, September 27th!  All students will have their picture taken for the yearbook.

Field Trip – Our first field trip will be on October 25th to Smith Family Farm Pumpkin Patch.  Permission slips were sent home last week and must be returned by October 11th, no exceptions. If you want to chaperone, you must indicate so on the form.  If you ask to attend after October 11th or show up on the day of the field trip, we will not be able to allow you to attend.

Lost and Found – This is the last week to check the lost and found box in front of the school office for missing items.  Anything left in the box at 2 PM on Friday will be donated.

Homework – If your child wants to do more homework than what is assigned, please do not have them work ahead in Reading Eggs.  Instead, they can work in Fast Phonics (you will find the button for Fast Phonics next to Reading Eggs and Mathseeds when you log in)

Halloween Party – As fall approaches, so does Halloween. Each year, ACAII hosts a Halloween carnival for Primary and Elementary. If this is your first year with us, this is one of the most highly anticipated events at our school. The carnival is put together solely by parent (or guardian) volunteers. We set up booths with games and activities where the kids can win prizes. There will also be a costume parade before the party. This is such a fun event!! If you are interested in signing up to be a volunteer, please come to our first meeting on Wednesday, Sept 27th at 3:00 at the picnic tables.

If you can’t volunteer but would like to donate to the cause, you can send money in to the office (please label money in a bag or envelope that is for primary/elementary Halloween party). We are asking for $5/student in the participating grade, but any amount will be gratefully accepted!

Lastly, We are trying to expand our games/activities for the party, and have a small list if anyone would be willing to help purchase. (please be aware that Halloween items go VERY quickly, so ordering sooner would be best.)

We appreciate all of you, and very much look forward to seeing everyone for this exciting event!

Week in Review

Last week we introduced sight words: I, a, an, at. We used a number line to find what comes before or after a given number. We discussed the shape of triangle and how many corners and sides it has. The Montessori activities introduced: Spindle Box, Sandpaper Numbers, Hook Math 1-9, Rhyming Bags, Syllable Sort, Sequencing, Matching Fabric Squares, and Latches. On Friday students made leaf rubbing art, a monkey mask, drew leaves, and played on the monkey bars.
