Big Break field trip is tomorrow!
Please send your student with a snack and shoes that can get dirty. We will leave around 8:30 and be back around 1:00. Lunch will be eaten at the field trip site. Elective classes will be held as per usual. No students can be checked out by anyone other than his/her parent. A big thanks to all who volunteered to drive and chaperone!
Rosicrucian Museum Permissions Slips are due tomorrow!!
Permission slips for the Rosicrucian Museum field trip on October 20th went home last week with students. Those permission slips are due back on by Tuesday September 26th.
Coastal Clean-up is this Friday!
Coastal Clean-up is happening Friday September 29th from 1:00-1:45. Permission slips are due Wednesday! This is ACA II’s annual schoolwide community service project and a chance for our students to give back to our local community. All students will be participating in community service that day, whether it is helping to clean the creek or our campus. Please remember to send your student in their Friday shirt and clothes/shoes they can get dirty in.
Research Projects
Have you checked in with your student about their research project lately?
This week we are working on our third performance of our research project. That means we are at the halfway point! It is very important that you talk with your student about their progress on their research project.
The more complicated parts of the project (the body performance, the nature performance, and the presentation) are often done at home for homework because they take longer than other class assignments. The body performance is a great part of the project to do together as a family. It is the most involved and time consuming. It is extremely important that families talk about what the student wants to create before they attempt to make it. They will most likely need to use supplies around the house.
4th grade students are completing their research project for the first time and will need the most help. 5th graders also tend to need more parent check-ins about their project than 6th graders. October break is a great time for Intermediate students to get caught up!
4th & 5th Grade Parents- Please sign the Purple folder!
Just a reminder for 4th and 5th grade parents: please review and sign your student’s purple folder each weekend! On each week’s contract is a progress report about your student’s work and behavior. Teachers also leave parents and students weekly notes! It is important to review your student’s folder with them every week.
Intermediate Independent Studies – How do they work?
Independent studies work a little differently in Intermediate than in Elementary. If your student misses a day of school, they are required to complete the work they missed that day. All of their work is on Google Classroom, so they should go there to complete those assignments (additional assignments are not sent home in the form of a packet in Intermediate). Students need to complete their weekly work by the end of each week. This includes finishing any work they missed because they were absent. If your student will not have access to Google Classroom while they are absent, please let us know and we can work out how to get those assignments completed with them.
Google Classrooms and students emails
Please remember that all work will be made available to students on Google Classroom. If you would like your email address to be added to your student’s Google Classroom account, then please email your student’s skills group teacher. An easier way to monitor their work is to sign into their account directly and view their completed assignments. If you or your student is getting more emails from Google Classroom than you can handle, there is a way to change the alert settings inside Google Classroom so it doesn’t email you each time the teacher updates the assignments. This might make managing student email addresses easier. Don’t forget that Google Classroom has an app that makes using Google Classroom at home really easy!
Does your student wear glasses?
We know that many of our Intermediate students wear glasses, but oftentimes they tell us that they forgot them at home or have lost them. Whether your student is nearsighted or farsighted, it is really important that they wear their prescription glasses in the classroom! For students who need reading glasses, but don’t wear them regularly, SSR is exhausting and puts a major strain on their eyes. For students who need distance glasses, copying off the board is next to impossible. Please talk with your student about the importance of wearing their glasses if they have them and encourage them to bring their glasses to school!
Instrumental Music students should be practicing at home!
A friendly reminder for all students in instrumental music: you need to practice your instrument as much as possible! This helps you become a better musician! Please schedule time in your week to practice. All instruments must be taken home from school everyday for students to practice. Please do not leave your instrument at school overnight.

¡La excursión Big Break es mañana!
Por favor envíe a su estudiante con un refrigerio y zapatos que puedan ensuciarse. Saldremos sobre las 8:30 y estaremos de regreso sobre las 13:00. El almuerzo se tomará en el lugar de la excursión. Las clases optativas se llevarán a cabo como de costumbre. Ningún estudiante puede ser retirado por nadie que no sea su padre. ¡Muchas gracias a todos los que se ofrecieron como voluntarios para conducir y ser acompañantes!
¡¡Los permisos para el Museo Rosacruz vencen mañana!!
Las hojas de permiso para la excursión al Museo Rosacruz el 20 de octubre se enviaron a casa la semana pasada con los estudiantes. Esas hojas de permiso deben entregarse antes del martes 26 de septiembre.
¡La limpieza costera es este viernes!
La limpieza costera se llevará a cabo el viernes 29 de septiembre de 1:00 a 1:45.¡Las hojas de permiso vence el miércoles! Este es el proyecto anual de servicio comunitario de toda la escuela de ACA II y una oportunidad para que nuestros estudiantes retribuyan a nuestra comunidad local. Todos los estudiantes participarán en servicio comunitario ese día, ya sea ayudando a limpiar el arroyo o nuestro campus. Recuerde enviar a su estudiante con su camisa del viernes y ropa/zapatos que puedan ensuciarse.
Proyectos de investigación
¿Ha consultado con su estudiante sobre su proyecto de investigación últimamente?
Esta semana estamos trabajando en la tercera realización de nuestro proyecto de investigación. ¡Eso significa que estamos en la mitad del camino! Es muy importante que hable con su estudiante sobre su progreso en su proyecto de investigación.
Las partes más complicadas del proyecto (la representación corporal, la representación de la naturaleza y la presentación) a menudo se hacen en casa como tarea porque toman más tiempo que otras tareas de clase. La performance corporal es una gran parte del proyecto para realizar juntos en familia. Es el más complicado y el que requiere más tiempo. Es extremadamente importante que las familias hablen sobre lo que el estudiante quiere crear antes de intentar hacerlo. Lo más probable es que necesiten utilizar suministros en la casa.
Los estudiantes de 4to grado están completando su proyecto de investigación por primera vez y necesitarán la mayor ayuda. Los estudiantes de quinto grado también tienden a necesitar más controles de los padres sobre su proyecto que los de sexto grado. ¡Las vacaciones de octubre son un buen momento para que los estudiantes de Intermedio se pongan al día!
Padres de 4to y 5to grado: ¡firmen la carpeta morada!
Solo un recordatorio para los padres de 4to y 5to grado: ¡revisen y firmen la carpeta morada de su estudiante cada fin de semana! En el contrato de cada semana hay un informe de progreso sobre el trabajo y el comportamiento de su estudiante. ¡Los maestros también dejan notas semanales a padres y estudiantes! Es importante revisar la carpeta de su estudiante con ellos cada semana.
Estudios Independientes Intermedios: ¿Cómo funcionan?
Los estudios independientes funcionan de manera un poco diferente en Intermedio que en Primaria. Si su estudiante falta un día de escuela, debe completar el trabajo que perdió ese día. Todo su trabajo está en Google Classroom, por lo que deben ir allí para completar esas tareas (las tareas adicionales no se envían a casa en forma de paquete en Intermedio). Los estudiantes deben completar su trabajo semanal al final de cada semana. Esto incluye terminar cualquier trabajo que perdieron porque estuvieron ausentes. Si su estudiante no tendrá acceso a Google Classroom mientras esté ausente, háganoslo saber y podremos resolver cómo completar esas tareas con él.
Google Classrooms y correos electrónicos de estudiantes
Recuerde que todo el trabajo estará disponible para los estudiantes en Google Classroom. Si desea que su dirección de correo electrónico se agregue a la cuenta de Google Classroom de su estudiante, envíe un correo electrónico al maestro del grupo de habilidades de su estudiante. Una forma más sencilla de monitorear su trabajo es iniciar sesión en su cuenta directamente y ver sus tareas completadas. Si usted o su estudiante reciben más correos electrónicos de Google Classroom de los que pueden manejar, hay una manera de cambiar la configuración de alerta dentro de Google Classroom para que no le envíe un correo electrónico cada vez que el profesor actualice las tareas. Esto podría facilitar la gestión de las direcciones de correo electrónico de los estudiantes. ¡No olvides que Google Classroom tiene una aplicación que hace que usar Google Classroom en casa sea realmente fácil!
¿Su estudiante usa anteojos?
Sabemos que muchos de nuestros alumnos de Intermedio usan gafas, pero muchas veces nos dicen que las olvidaron en casa o las han perdido. Ya sea que su estudiante tenga miopía o hipermetropía, ¡es muy importante que use sus anteojos recetados en el salón de clases! Para los estudiantes que necesitan gafas para leer, pero no las usan con regularidad, la SSR es agotadora y supone un gran esfuerzo para la vista. Para los estudiantes que necesitan anteojos de distancia, copiar de la pizarra es casi imposible. ¡Por favor hable con su estudiante sobre la importancia de usar sus anteojos si los tiene y anímalo a que los traiga a la escuela!
¡Los estudiantes de Música Instrumental deberían practicar en casa!
Un recordatorio amistoso para todos los estudiantes de música instrumental: ¡deben practicar su instrumento tanto como sea posible! ¡Esto te ayuda a convertirte en un mejor músico! Por favor programe tiempo en su semana para practicar. Todos los instrumentos deben llevarse a casa de la escuela todos los días para que los estudiantes practiquen. Por favor no dejes tu instrumento en la escuela durante la noche.
