Counselor’s Corner
There has been a disturbing trend on some “child safe” internet sites such as YouTube Kids. Some content has been slipping past safety filters including content promoting inappropriate and unsafe behaviors, as well predatory practices. Please make sure you are monitoring your student’s internet content despite safety claims by the content provider.

INTERNSHIPS
Students should be making arrangements for a job shadow on May 1, 2, and 3rd. The directions and a suggested letter to give to potential hosts are in google classroom. The potential sponsor letter also includes a list of places that have hosted ACA or ACA2 students in the past. Middle school students will not come to school on May 1, 2, and 3rd and should be doing their internship and working on their career research on these dates.
SPA PROJECT: CAREER UNIT
Students should be finalizing where they will be job shadowing on May 1, 2, and 3rd. Remember, middle school students will NOT have school on campus on those dates. Students are to job shadow for at least 12 hours over the course of the 3 days. If your student has not yet talked with you about this assignment, please do so THIS WEEK! There are resources to help your student reach out to a business to ask about doing an internship on the Social Studies Google Classroom.
This Thursday, students will practice their job interview skills. Next Thursday, April 27th, we will have Mock Interviews in the afternoon. Please make sure your student is at school for this important event. There are several community volunteers who will be conducting the interviews with individual students. If you are interested in helping out from 12:45 – 2:45, please let us know.
Math
Did you know there are 4 different math classes in Middle School? Most in-class and all homework assignments will be posted in each math class Google Classroom. Paper assignments may be turned into the classroom and do not need to be attached to Google Classroom. In general, all students will have:
*a daily in class assignment, to be done in class, Monday to Thursday
*a daily homework assignment, due the next day, assigned Monday to Thursday
*20 minutes of Fact Fluency practice per week. Mrs. McCutcheon recommends doing it for 5 minutes per day.
Science -This week we will experiment with different substances to find what causes a chemical reaction to produce heat. We will learn about exothermic and endothermic reactions.
