OUTDOOR ED PERMISSION SLIPS WERE DUE LAST WEEK!
Permission slips for outdoor ed were due last week. If your 5th or 6th grade student has not turned in their permission slip please turn it in ASAP!!! Second down payment of $50 for each person is due on Wednesday, January 18th.
It’s time for the Secret Santa Christmas Gift Exchange
Each year the Intermediate class does a gift exchange, which is many students’ favorite event. Participating students drew names at random for Secret Santa last Thursday. Please make sure to talk with your Intermediate student about who they drew for Secret Santa! Each student will purchase a small gift for the person whose name they drew. The maximum cost should be no more than $15, which includes the price of wrapping the gift. If your student needs help with gift ideas or is unable to participate, please let us know right away. The gift exchange will take place right before the International Potluck on Wednesday December 21st. All students must bring their gift on that day.
Intermediate International Potluck is back!
The Intermediate International Potluck on our last day before winter break, Wednesday December 21st. For those of you not familiar with this tradition, the International Potluck is part of our Christmas season celebration. Each student is asked to bring in a dish, labeled with the name of the dish and main ingredients, that is special to their family. It can be their favorite food, a family recipe, or a special cultural recipe that they’d like to share. Students are encouraged to bring in main dishes, not desserts (which will be provided by the teachers). ALL FOOD ITEMS MUST BE NUT FREE!
We need volunteers to help serve food items at the potluck! If you are interested in volunteering please let us know by responding to this email.
If your student is absent from school, but well enough to join us on Zoom please help get them on. Below are the links for all Intermediate classes. From 9:00 – 11:00 have them connect with their Skills Group teacher. From 11:00- 12:00 they should connect with their Specialty Group teacher.

Please help your student get to school on time!!!
Over this school year, Intermediate has recorded 163 tardies! That’s a lot of late students. Please please please help your students out by getting them to school on time. When students are late to school, they miss announcements for the day, beginning of the day instructions, and important changes to their schedule.
Research Projects have begun!
Just a friendly reminder that students will be completing their bibliography and their second page of notes for research this week. Our 2nd trimester research project is on US Landmarks. Please check in with your student about their project and have them show you their planning sheet!
Hour of Code Week!
This week is Hour of Code Week! Hour of Code week is designed to bring awareness to computer science and computer coding. Code.org created the event in 2013 to give students everywhere a way to try computer coding. ACA II has participated in Hour of Code since the very first one in December of 2013. In Intermediate, students spend their writing classes in December writing code on Code.org. Hour of Code is not just for the kids! Beginning coders of all ages can try their hand at computer coding using the games and activities on the website. Try for yourself at www.hourofcode.com!
Instrumental Music students should be practicing at home!
A friendly reminder for all students in instrumental music: you need to practice your instrument as much as possible! This helps you become a better musician! Please schedule time in your week to practice. All instruments must be taken home from school everyday for students to practice. Please do not leave your instrument at school overnight.

¡LOS PERMISOS DE PERMISO DE EDUCACIÓN AL AIRE LIBRE FUERON VENCIDOS LA SEMANA PASADA!

Es hora del intercambio de regalos de Navidad de Papá Noel secreto
Cada año, la clase intermedia hace un intercambio de regalos, que es el evento favorito de muchos estudiantes. El Potluck Internacional Intermedio es nuestro último día antes de las vacaciones de invierno, el miércoles 21 de diciembre. Para aquellos de ustedes que no están familiarizados con esta tradición, el International Potluck es parte de nuestra celebración navideña. Se le pide a cada estudiante que traiga un plato, etiquetado con el nombre del plato y los ingredientes principales, que sea especial para su familia. Puede ser su comida favorita, una receta familiar o una receta cultural especial que les gustaría compartir. Se alienta a los estudiantes a traer platos principales, no postres (que serán proporcionados por los maestros). ¡TODOS LOS ALIMENTOS DEBEN ESTAR LIBRES DE NUECES!

¡Esta semana es la Semana de la Hora del Código! La semana de la Hora del Código está diseñada para generar conciencia sobre las ciencias de la computación y la codificación de computadoras.
