Newsletter for Antioch Charter Academy/TLCS Families and Staff Volume 25, Issue 6, September 21, 2020

Dear ACA Families and Friends,

During this time of Distance Learning, while many of us are working and learning at home, we aren’t always able to see each other.  Even though we are not physically at school, The Family Network Board has still been working hard organizing volunteers and events to support the ACA students and staff.  The first event of the year is our annual Walk-A-Thon!

Our annual Walk-A-Thon will be held September 29-September 30.

This will be a Distance Learning Walk-A-Thon!  Any time from 8 am on September 29 through 8 pm on September 30, students can exercise for 30 minutes while social distancing.

You can take a walk, dance, Zumba, do jumping jacks, burpees, martial arts, play on the trampoline, swim….whatever you choose to stay active for 30 minutes.  Have fun!

Students can collect pledges using the 99 Pledges website.  Family and friends can pledge per minute your student is active, or pledge a flat donation amount.

*Go to https://app.99pledges.com/fund/ACAWalks20 to add your student as a participant.

The ‘add participant’ button is near the bottom left in a very small blue font!  Once your student is added, then you can email the link to their personal donation page to friends and family and collect donations.  You can also use that page to make a donation yourself.

All the pledges and donations raised will go directly to ACA students.  The Family Network uses the funds for alumni scholarships, study trip financial support, educational events, family events, classroom materials, and more.

Please consider donating to the Annual Give fundraiser. Donations can be submitted via PayPal to acafamilynetwork@gmail.com, venmo to @Beth-Rottier, or checks mailed to the school with the attached form. Remember, your donation is tax deductible and helps to fund many materials and programs offered at our school.

Thanks so much,

Ms. McLean

GENERAL NOTES

Materials Pick Up/Drop Off Days: The next pick up/drop off day for all students will be on Sept 30th, Oct. 1st, and Oct 2nd.  The specifics about times, materials, and the actually pick up process will be sent out in a future email.  Please put these dates on your calendar.  Primary & Elementary students will have to pick up materials/packets/work for the next 6 weeks of school.  Other levels may have materials to pick up (ie.  Middle School will exchange their literature books).

Daily Attendance is expected.  If your child(ren) will be absent, please contact the school via email or phone call to inform us of the absence.  Students will still be expected to complete their missing work (independent study).

Volunteer Club: Howdy! We’re a middle school run volunteer club. We want to help our community by donating, volunteering, and fundraising. For our upcoming event, we want to donate to Saint Jude’s Hospital, and we need your help! Attached is a list of the items we would like to donate. In addition to these goods, we are also in need of cash donations to ship these items to the main location in Tennessee. Our plan is to host a drive through event on one of the pick-up days (TBA). All donations listed are welcome! Please wear a face mask, and come support us!
