Dear ACA Families,

 

Welcome back to school! We want to welcome all of the returning ACA families and all of our new families. We all know that this year is going to be a little different, but for us, different will be great! We are committed to a standard of excellence both with safety and with academic integrity, always placing people as our top priority.

 

As the situation with COVID-19 is extremely dynamic we will continue to make proactive decisions that are grounded in care for our families and staff. Thank you for your patience thus far, and as we move forward. Our amazing ACA staff has a wonderful year planned and we can’t wait to get started.

 

We are pleased with distance learning thus far. ACA families, students and staff have stepped up their technological game, and we are seeing students learning and engaged.

 

This week each level will be holding their Back to School Night and New Parent Orientations on Zoom. Primary/Elementary will hold theirs on Tuesday, Middle School on Wednesday, and Intermediate on Thursday. All of the presentations will start at 6 pm and should end before 8 pm. The night is a must for all parents who have children at that level. We have a lot to share with you.

Back to School Nights…Zoom Style!

Every student needs a parent/guardian to attend their class meeting!

Wednesday Enrichment starts on Wednesday (August 26th!)  The Wednesday Enrichment Instructors have been working really hard to come up with a fantastic distance learning program.  This year, students have been broken up into Alpha & Beta groups.  Every Wednesday, students will alternate between either working in Google Classrooms or joining Zoom meetings.  During distance learning, students will “attend” school from 8-12pm on Wednesdays. Watch for your student’s classroom newsletters to find out your student’s schedule and sign in information!

Grab & Go Meals through August 28th: At this time, AUSD is continuing the Grab and Go meals at their open feeding sites through 8/28.  All ACA students, and their siblings 18 and under, may obtain a free breakfast and lunch from any of these sites.  Here is the website for more information https://www.antiochschools.net/nutrition-services.

Starting 9/1, ACA students only may visit any one of the school sites listed to obtain breakfast and lunch.  You will receive Meal Pickup Flyers for your students which will be personalized with their names and Student ID #s. Each enrolled student (or parent/guardian) must present the flyer at one of the feeding sites to obtain meals for their students.  Parents will go back to paying for meals directly to ACA.  Look for more information in future Networkings.  Every year you must re-apply for Free or Reduced lunches.  Go to http://www.schoollunchapp.com/  to apply.

FAMILY NETWORK (FN) NEWS & INFORMATION

The ACA Family Network is made up of ACA adults who volunteer for fundraisers and social events for the enrichment of our children. The money we raise goes back to our school for study trips, family activities, assemblies, and classroom supplies. If you have a child/grandchild/niece/nephew/etc. at ACA, then come join us & help make a difference!

Family Network Events:

Please submit by 8/25/20.  Items can be picked up at ACA the first week of September (exact dates/times will be sent later)

Family Network Meetings are the first Thursday of each month.  Meetings will be held by Zoom until we can go back to campus.  The board welcomes and encourages all ACA families to attend the meetings.  The meetings are not just for board members, but for all ACA family members.

REMINDERS

Charter Council: the Charter Council is our governing board.  The board meets on a monthly basis – usually the first Thursday of the month @ 4PM.  Please check the calendar for the next meeting date/time, or call the office at 925-755-7311 to confirm.  These meetings are open to the public – all are welcomed!

Absences and Tardies: If your student will be absent, or tardy, please call the office at 925-755-7311, or email your student’s classroom, before 8:00am. Even though we are currently doing Distance Learning, roll is still taken EVERY DAY.
