Newsletter for Antioch Charter Academy/TLCS Families and Staff Volume 25, Issue 1, August 17, 2020

Dear ACA Families,

 

Welcome Back to School!  Today, Monday, August 17th we are having our Designated Day for Materials Pick-up.  Every student has items waiting for them!  The pick-up will take place from 9-4pm.  Please try to come during your designated time frame (see attachment – Start of School email).  If you can’t, then please email the office at acaoffice@antiochcharteracademy.org to let them know, so they can schedule a different time.

 

If you need a Chromebook and/or an instrument (returning music students only), you must fill out a form beforehand. Please go to this link https://forms.gle/PgRX7doWmJJw7fDL7 to fill it out before you come.  Parents who do not fill out a form beforehand will need to pull aside, fill out a paper form, then get back in line.  It is going to be hot today, so try to make it easier on everyone (including yourself) by getting this done beforehand.  Remember, every student will need access to a computer from 8-12pm Monday-Friday; siblings will not be able to share.

 

Later today, each level will be hosting their “Meet & Greet” zoom meeting.  Make sure to join your student(s)’ classroom at the designated time (see below), so we can meet you!

 

On Wednesday, August 19 at 8am, school officially starts!!  To help the day go smoothly, you may want to start practicing on Monday & Tuesday: getting up, eating breakfast, getting dressed, and connecting to the internet all before 8am. Make sure each of your children have a designated spot in your home for school (this does not include their beds).  Even the teachers and staff may want to practice too…LOL!!

 

One last thing, if you have not done so, please make sure you fill out the July Packet (attached) and either resend it by email, or print it out and bring it with you today.

GENERAL NOTES

 

Grab & Go Meals through August 28th: At this time, AUSD is continuing the Grab and Go meals at our open feeding sites through 8/28.  All ACA students, and their siblings 18 and under, may obtain a free breakfast and lunch from any of these sites.  Here is the website for more information https://www.antiochschools.net/nutrition-services.

 

Starting 9/1, ACA students only may visit any one of the school sites listed to obtain breakfast and lunch.  You will receive Meal Pickup Flyers for your students which will be personalized with their names and Student ID #s. Each enrolled student (or parent/guardian) must present the flyer at one of the feeding sites to obtain meals for their students.  Parents will go back to paying for meals directly to ACA.  Look for more information in future Networkings.

 

FAMILY NETWORK (FN) NEWS & INFORMATION

The ACA Family Network is made up of ACA adults who volunteer for fundraisers and social events for the enrichment of our children. The money we raise goes back to our school for study trips, family activities, assemblies, and classroom supplies. If you have a child/grandchild/niece/nephew/etc. at ACA, then come join us & help make a difference!

Family Network Meetings are the first Thursday of each month.  Meetings will be held by Zoom until we can go back to campus.  The board welcomes and encourages all ACA families to attend the meetings.  The meetings are not just for board members, but for all ACA family members.

 

REMINDERS

 

Charter Council: the Charter Council is our governing board.  The board meets on a monthly basis – usually the first Thursday of the month @ 4PM.  Please check the calendar for the next meeting date/time, or call the office at 925-755-7311 to confirm.  These meetings are open to the public – all are welcomed!

 

Absences and Tardies: If your student will be absent, or tardy, please call the office at 925-755-7311, or email your student’s classroom, before 8:00am. Even though we are currently doing Distance Learning, roll is still taken EVERY DAY.
