ACA ELEMENTARY WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

WEEK OF JANUARY 21, 2020

COIN WARS

The Family Network is doing a school-wide fundraiser called Coin Wars. Coin Wars has each level (primary, elementary, intermediate, and middle school) collecting money for their level. The level that earns the most wins! Money can be in the form or coins or paper money. Each cent is turned in is equal to 1 point. Each bill turned in is worth double points! So a nickel is worth 5 points and a dollar is worth 200 points. The coin bins are in the front office. The fundraiser will go on until the end of January.

SCHOOL CHOICE DAY

Wednesday, January 22, is a celebration of school choice! Here at ACA we are so grateful that we have the chance to choose the kind of school our students are attending. In the morning from 8:15-9:15 students and parents will have a chance to celebrate this choice. Elementary and Primary students will start us off by performing a dance and then there will be hot cocoa and donut holes provided by the Family Network for students.

STUDY TRIP-CHABOT SPACE AND SCIENCE CENTER

Our next study trip is to Chabot Space and Science Center, on Thursday, February 6.  All students will be participating in a lab class activity, watch a planetarium show, have time in the exhibits, and eat lunch.

The cost for each student is $15.  The cost for each adult is $15. Permission slips are going home on Thursday, and are due by January 30th.

CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED

We are in need of parent volunteers to help students with sight word practice in the classroom.  We are offering a training in our sight word program to parent volunteers on Wednesday, January 29th from 10:30-11:15.

Training is required prior to volunteering to help with this program.  Once trained, parent volunteers will be able to work in the classroom anytime between 10:00 and 12:00 helping students with their sight words. This is a great opportunity to be more involved with your students’ education and to support them in their learning!

SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS

Scholastic book orders are due by February 3, in order for books to be received prior to the February break.  Orders can still be placed after February 3, but may not be delivered until after the February break.

Orders can be given to the teachers, or placed online at http://www.scholastic.com/aboutclubs/.  Our classroom code is FY9XM.

If you would like to order any books as gifts/surprises, please let the teachers know, and we will not give the books to the students directly, but instead give them to the parents.
