International Potluck Reminders
Friday is our International Potluck and Christmas celebration! Each student is asked to bring in a dish, labeled with the name of the dish and main ingredients, that is special to their family. It can be their favorite food, a family recipe, or special cultural recipe that they’d like to share. Students are encouraged to bring in main dishes, not desserts (which will be provided by the teachers). All food can be dropped off before 9:15 to Mrs. Gonzalez’s room (Room 3). If your dish requires serving spoons or bowls, please send them with your child (and please label them!). We have plates, napkins, and silverware for the students. Parent volunteers will be needed to help serve food at the International Potluck. Any parents wishing to volunteer, please arrive at school by 9:00.
Secret Santa Christmas Gift Exchange
Please remind students to bring their Secret Santa gifts to school Friday morning! Reminder: the maximum cost should be no more than $15, which includes the price of wrapping the gift. If your student can’t remember who they have, please ask us asap, we have a list.
Research Projects have begun!
Just a friendly reminder that students will be completing their first performance this week. Our 2nd trimester research project is on American Landmarks. Please check in with your student about their project and have them show you their planning sheet!
Instrumental Music students should be practicing at home!
A friendly reminder for all students in instrumental music: you need to practice your instrument as much as possible! This helps you become a better musician! Please schedule time in your week to practice. All instruments must be taken home from school everyday for students to practice. Please do not leave your instrument at school overnight.
Science
Study Guides for next week’s test (Dec. 16-19) are going home this week. Please review them with your student to see what they know. The test will be “open book” so students may look at their notes during the test. They may not look at their study guide during the test.
Lost and Found
We have a growing lost and found in the box in front of the office. It’s that time of year to ask your child to swing by the lost and found to see if they see their missing any sweatshirts and jackets!
Punctuality is Important!
We have noticed quite a few students coming in late to class this month (we have counted 68 tardies this month alone just in Intermediate). Starting the day at 8:15 is very important in Intermediate due to all of the announcements and reminders that happen before 8:20 Class Meeting every morning. Students are expected to be in line outside of their door right after the whistle blows at 8:15. There is a 3-5 minute grace period for students to shake hands with their teacher, come in, and arrange their materials. Announcements and instruction starts at or before 8:20. It is very important that all students hear the announcements and instructions for the day. It helps prepare them for the rest of their instruction.
Weekly Work
Students received their Weekly Work folders this week. Inside those folders you will find all of their assignments. We also include the assignments each week in the newsletter just in case.
