Special Ed Updates

We are excited to welcome Miss Bernadette to our Special Education department! She has taken over the special ed aide position from Miss Chelsie, who left us last month to further her education. We wish Miss Chelsie luck! Miss Bernadette has been a part of our school community and staff for many years, working in the iLs program. She has a lot of experience in special education and we are excited to have her work with Mrs. Willard and our special education students!

We are broadening the focus of our Special Ed Parent Advisory Committee to include support for all areas of our RTI and special education programs. The purpose of the advisory committee is to provide feedback to staff about our student support programs, facilitate outreach and support to the school community about our RTI and special ed programs, and help plan this year’s Ability Awareness Week in the spring. Look for more information about the next meeting after the break!

TAKING STUDENTS OUT DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

For your child’s safety, our policy requires that you call or send a note to school in advance if your child must leave school early.  Children are not allowed to leave the classrooms early without clearance from the school office.  Adults picking up children during the day must come to the office and sign the child out.  Only adults that are listed on the emergency card may pick up children.  Please keep these cards updated both in the office and with the teacher.  No adult is to go directly to the classroom.

Students will not be allowed to leave the classroom until the adult signing them out is in the office.

These policies are in place to help us keep track of your children for their safety.
