Coastal Cleanup

Permission slips for Coastal Cleanup went home two weeks ago and are due back this Friday Sept 27th. Students who do not turn in a permission slip for Coastal Cleanup or mark that they will not be participating will help clean up our campus instead of the creek. All students will be participating in community service that day, whether it is helping to clean the creek or our campus.

Cal Academy of Sciences Permission Slip

Intermediate will be visiting the California Academy of Sciences in November. Permission slips for that field trip will be going home soon. If you are interested in chaperoning, please make sure that your insurance and DMV record is turned into the office at least one week before the trip. This helps ensure that all of our drivers are cleared to drive before the day of the field trip. All permission slips must be turned in by the due date. If your child needs a scholarship or you would like an extension on the donation, please write that on the permission slip and turn it in by the due date. We are unable to make accommodations for students who turn in their permission slip late!

Research Projects

Research projects are underway! Please check in with your student about their progress on their project. This week their second performance is due. This should be their word performance! If this is your student’s first research project and you missed the presentation at Back to School Night, please come in one day after school to look at the samples we have. Presentations will be the week of October 21st.

Gradelink

As you may have noticed, the Intermediate teachers are beginning to experiment with using gradelink as an online grading system. Each teacher is using the system in their own way as we get comfortable with it. You may notice grades popping up for certain classes or whole class emails being sent from the system. Please make sure that your student’s information is current in our system! We will continue to update you as we use Gradelink more.

Trapper Keepers aka Zipper Binder

As students complete their weekly assignments, they should file their old work under math, language arts, social studies, science or their elective, if appropriate. At test time, they will be able to pull out and review relevant topics.  For example, science students are given hand-outs that should be filed until test time. Science students get to use those materials during the test.
