Antioch Charter Academy

Back to School Nights this week!

Our Vision To provide a learning environment where students of all socio-economic levels and ethnic backgrounds embrace education, exhibit compassion, and accept personal responsibility

Our Mission The mission of the Antioch Charter Academies is to facilitate academic and personal growth of TK-8th grade students of all socio-economic levels and ethnic backgrounds. ACA enables 21st century students to become literate, self-motivated, innovative, lifelong learners, and compassionate, collaborative active citizens. We nurture and support a partnership of students, teachers, families and the community; embrace individual strengths; and build upon research informed educational best practices including Montessori, multiple intelligences, brain-compatible teaching, and multi-age groupings with small class sizes.

Newsletter for Antioch Charter Academy/TLCS Families and Staff Volume 24, Issue 1, August 19, 2019

Welcome back to school!  I hope you all had an enjoyable summer.  Everyone has been busy preparing for a great year of learning and we are excited to start the 2019-20 school year. Thank you to all of the families and staff members who helped with the campus beautification.  The courtyard and classrooms look amazing! Thank you to all of the families who came to the first day of school too! It was great to see so many of you at the family network meeting and flag ceremony!

We hired a lot of new staff this year, mostly in our Instructional aide positions. If you see some new faces, introduce yourself. On the teacher side, Mrs. Nataliya Chul joins our staff this year as the newest Elementary teacher.  Mrs. Chul has experience teaching at the elementary level and speaks four languages! We are excited to welcome her into our ACA family. We are also very excited to announce that Mrs. Cerecedes will be our full-time resource teacher for special education. She brings an understanding of our school philosophies, the Montessori program, and our students to the classroom. Congratulations to Mrs. DiBerardino who accepted a position working with the El Dorado Charter SELPA, our Special Education oversight agency.

We want to welcome our newest guest artist, Mr. Andrew Laubacher from San Francisco who will be working with Mrs. Wendi Olsen during music on Wonderful Wednesday. He is a musician, drummer (plays with the band Con Brio) and teacher.  We look forward to his drumming appreciation class!

Have a great first full week and we’ll see you at Back to School/New Parent Orientation night!

Cheers,

Edna Heller
