WALK-A-THON
Walk–a-thon: This Wednesday,March 28th, all ACA students will be participating in our Walk-a-Thon.
The Walk-a-Thon will be held from 12:45-1:45pm.
All families are invited to come watch and cheer on our students.
Our goal is to raise at least $5,000 for the school! If each student at ACA raised around $30, we can reach our goal. All funds raised will go directly to the school.
All students brought home pledge sheets and information about the Walk-a-Thon OR if you don’t have a form
You can also go to https://99pledges.com/fund/acawalk and add your student(s) to our online pledge site. This is a great way to post or email friends and family to ask for pledges. This is a simple way to raise funds for our school!
CHARTER RENEWAL FOR ACA-WEDNESDAY MARCH 28
Our charter renewal will be on the District agenda, on March 28th for both the Public Hearing and the acceptance or our petition by the board. The board decision for renewal will be at the April 25th meeting.
Please plan to attend both board meetings to show support for the renewal of our charter. If you would like to speak to the board, you can fill out a speaker card that evening. Having a few people (staff, parents, students, Charter Council members) speak on behalf of our school at the public hearing on the 28th would be in our best interest. Thank you for your support!
The meeting is held at the AUSD District office located at 510 G Street in Antioch. The meeting begins at 7:00.
CIVIC LEARNING AWARD OF MERIT
Hello ACA Families!
I have some fantastic news to share with all our stakeholders. Antioch Charter Academy has been recognized with a 2018 Civic Learning Award of Merit.
Co-sponsored by Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, the awards celebrate public schools’ efforts to engage K-12 students in civic learning and identify models that can be replicated in other schools.
“Civic education plays a critical role in preparing our youth to be active and informed community members, participate in our democracy, and make a difference in the world,” added State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson. “The number of schools taking part in these efforts is truly inspiring and exemplifies the importance we should place on civic education.”
The selection committee was impressed by how we engage students in opportunities that incorporate research-based, proven practices in civic learning. ACA’s dedication to students’ civic education is an invaluable investment in the vibrancy of our democratic system.
Congratulations!
Mr. Fuller
