ACA II Weekly Newsletter 4-3-17
March 28, 2017
TIP from Jane Nelsen
Remember the brain controls our reactions. The primitive part of the brain called the “reptilian brain” is working when we are upset. The thinking brain, “the frontal cortex,” shuts down. Mirror neurons copy the demeanor and the behavior of the person we are interacting with, following the emotions of the other person. It’s best to wait until the frontal cortex is ready to solve the problem, otherwise, the outcome is highly emotional.
Thank you to all the drivers on Monday who drove to ACA for the opera. Everyone was patient and helped enormously by driving extra students and coming back for a second carload of students. Thank you parent volunteers and all the staff for making everything work. Middle School students were able to ride and didn’t need to walk. The opera production was an outstanding study trip for the students.
Thank you to the families who participated in the Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough fundraiser. We raised $1,493!
