Dear ACA Families,

Last week, Mrs. Brecht shared an inspiring story about our students and how they confidently led an ACA/ACAII staff training. I want to share more about the many trainings we staff members participate in throughout the year.

Though it is not always made clear, our Wednesday afternoons and numerous minimum days are reserved for faculty trainings and discussions. Our small staff is not only charged with maintaining the daily goings-on of our school, but we are also constantly searching for ways to enhance our teaching and the learning environment. Almost weekly, we come together to share, learn, and discover more about what works for your kids and what our adopted philosophies have to teach us. Our WASC process, an ongoing endeavor we hope to involve all of you with, has also inspired many deep and meaningful discussions about our school’s successes and areas needing improvement.

What is unique about all of this is that our faculty is responsible for making policy and instructional decisions AND we are also the ones who then implement those changes. This may seem like a logical set-up, but please recognize that it is not the case in most school settings. This streamlined approach allows for swift and individualized changes geared toward helping each student thrive. That’s why my kids attend ACA and that’s why I love working here!

Box Tops for Education

Don’t forget to turn in your General Mills Box Tops for Education. There is a can provided in the office and every box top is worth cash for our school. Before you throw away any packaging, be sure to cut out the box top first. They can be found on food products (General Mills, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, etc), storage bags (Ziploc), paper products (Kleenex, Scott) and so many more!
